अर्जुन उवाच। संन्यासस्य महाबाहो तत्त्वमिच्छामि वेदितुम्। त्यागस्य च हृषीकेश पृथक्केशिनिषूदन।

[18.2] The Lord said: The seers know sannyāsa as the laying-down of actions aimed at a wish. The clear-sighted call tyāga the abandoning of the fruit of all action.

[18.3] Some thoughtful ones say action should be abandoned as faulty; others say the action of yajña, dāna, and tapas should not be abandoned.
